The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has indicated that it has reached out to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) over the allegations of rape leveled against the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo.
Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Special Assistant, Media and Communications to the CAN President, in a statement on Saturday, said CAN would get to the root of the matter.
“The Christian Association of Nigeria as a body, condemns any case of rape in strong terms, it doesn’t matter who is involved.
“It is ungodly, wicked, and reprehensible. However, on the allegations against Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo, we have no details about the matter other than what we are reading on the social media, this is not reliable and credible evidence enough to jump into a conclusion.
“The CAN Leadership, therefore, has reached out to the leadership of the block which the Pastor in question belongs with a view to getting to the root of the matter. This will help us to make the right decision on the issue.”
Fatoyinbo had been accused of rape by Busola Dakolo, wife of musician, Timi Dakolo.
Some other alleged victims have also come forward, accusing the pastor of rape, an allegation Fatoyinbo has denied.
