President Muhammadu Buhari will today visit Akwa Ibom and Imo states to say thank you to the people on his re-election and to campaign for All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidates in the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections in the two states.
The president is basically using this week to visit some states to say thank you to electorates as well as campaign for his party candidates in next Saturday states elections. Other states in the president’s itinerary were before the Saturday’s elections are Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto and Katsina.
At each state, President Buhari is expected hold a town hall meeting to thank the people for giving him the mandate for second term and also solicit votes for APC candidates for the election. Apart from the president’s home state, Katsina, that is being fully controlled by the ruling APC, states like Akwa Ibom, Taraba and Sokoto are currently governed by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); while Imo and Kaduna states are highly considered marginal states with the strong presence of the opposition PDP.
In Imo, Governor Rochas Okorocha, who has just been suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC), is working for the election of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance as governor as against the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
