President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, enjoyed immunity from prosecution as a sitting governor.
President Buhari said this at the Presidential rally in Kano, where Ganduje was presented by him to the crowd as the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
Buhari stated that under the Nigerian laws, an accused person remained innocent until proved guilty by the courts.
Governor Ganduje has been in the eyes of the storm in recent times following the release of videos alleging his bribe taking acts on the social media.
Hundreds of thousands of supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) trooped out to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari in Kano on Thursday.
People lined on the streets from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) to the palace of the emir of Kano.
Buhari paid a courtesy visit to Muhammad Sanusi, Emir of Kano, before heading to Sani Abacha Stadium, venue of the campaign.
Kano is the stronghold of the president.
