Justice Walter Onnoghen, the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, has affirmed that he has not resigned from office as against the rumours making the rounds.
The embattled jurist in a statement signed by Awassam Bassey, his media aide, described his rumoured resignation as “fake news circulated by mischief makers.”
“Mischief makers are still circulating this fake news. Once again, no truth in it whatsoever. The Hon CJN, Hon Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has not resigned,” Bassey said.
Justice Onnoghen was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday following an ex-patiate order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), arising from his trial at the tribunal for failing to declare his all his assets. He was replaced by Justice Tanko Mohammed.
